Believing to Belong
I'm curious what have you done lately to belong? What did you accept that you really don't believe in, just to be accepted, to feel chosen or loved? Did it really validate your feelings? Make you feel wanted and appreciated or did it leave you feeling emptier inside then you did before?
We often follow culture's examples and end up disappointed in life. Today my thoughts were on why can't we all be genuine people? Why is there so much dissatisfaction in our lives? Why isn't it enough that our loving creator has chosen us, has plans for our lives and validates us, enough. Why aren't we happy with being loved by Him? What drives us to keep searching for other people to choose us when our God and Savior has already chosen us?
It really makes you think what could be so broken in us that makes us seek out our identity and validation and love from everybody except the one we are supposed to turn to? Why are we so desperate to cling to a life that was supposed to stay in that watery grave? Why do we reject the one that is trying the hardest to get us to that place of satisfaction?
Why do we pretend that we are capable of running our own lives when we get stressed and the first thing often from our mouths is Lord have mercy? There's more to life than satisfying our own plans we agreed in baptism to do His will. When do we stop pretending? And will this pretending we are doing cost us the Kingdom?
